How to create promotional activities for your products in GMC

When you want to do promotion activities, you can create promotion activities through GMC to bring more traffic to the website. Next, we will explain how to create product promotion activities in GMC.

#1. Open GMC, click marketing > promotion> in the left menu bar, and click the blue icon “+” to create a new promotion.

#2. Select the target market country to be launched and click continue.

#3. Select a language and check Shoppingads and Freelistings. Promotional activities will be displayed in both paid and free traffic.

#4. Select promotion method. There are four promotion methods for promotional activities: Amountoff, Percentoff, Freegift and Freeshipping. The most common is the second promotion method – Percentoff.

[Amount off]: It means that the product promotion activities are direct preferential prices. As shown in the figure below, the promotion of wigs is a $7 discount.

[Percent off]: It means that the content of product promotion is discount price. As shown in the figure below, the promotion of wigs is 10% discount.

[Free gift]: It means that the product promotion activities are free gifts when placing an order. There are three ways to give this gift.

Select the first “Get a free gift” , and just fill in the description of the gift (no more than 100 characters);

To select the second “Get a gift card” , you need to fill in the specific value of the gift card;

When the gift is a specific product in the store, you can choose the third method of “Get a free gift from your inventory”, which means that the gift is a product in the store, and you need to fill in the specific item in the product feed_ ID.

In addition, you can add an activity threshold for free gift giving activities. For example, you can get gifts only when the purchase amount exceeds $200, or you can get gifts only when the purchase amount reaches 3$.

(set the minimum purchase amount to 200$ to get gifts)

(gifts can only be obtained when the minimum purchase quantity is set to 3)

[Free shipping]: Indicates that the promotion content of this product is free shipping.

#5. Take the most common percentage discount activity as an example, click percentoff to start setting discounts.

There are also three ways to offer a discount percentage:

(1) Set the discount percentage directly. As shown in the figure below, the product discount is set to 30%. You can also add a condition that “the order must be purchased for $200 to enjoy the discount”. This condition is optional.

(2) Set “you can enjoy discount only when you place an order and buy the specified quantity”. As shown in the figure below, you can enjoy a 30% discount on the order only when you buy 3 pieces. If the promotion is for more than one product, you can also enjoy a discount if you buy three different products.

(3) Set “after a certain quantity of the same product is purchased at the original price, the part beyond this quantity can enjoy discount”. As shown in the figure below, if it is the second half price activity of McDonald’s cone, set the original price to buy one cone, and then buy another one, and the second cone will enjoy half price discount.

(the original price of the first one is 4$, the second half price is only 2$, and buying two is only 6$)

Among the three discount percentage discount methods, select the first most common “set order discount percentage directly” method to continue to the next step.

#6. (1) fill in the title of the promotion activity, which can be viewed by users at the front desk. The title copy shall meet the following requirements:

No more than 60 characters. The space between word punctuation marks should also maintain the correct distance format. Exclamation marks are not allowed.

There is no syntax error. For example, “all products” is plural and cannot be written as “all product”

The specific preferential amount or discount must be specified. If there is a quantity or order value threshold, it must also be added. For example, $5 off purchases over $20.

(2) Fill in the promotion ID. Only letters, numbers, connectors and underscores can be filled in. Spaces and other characters are not allowed. Here you can fill in “30percentoff” to facilitate your understanding and management of activities.

(3) Next, select the products to promote:

If you need to promote some products, select the first option directly.

Then create a supplementary feed, upload the “item_id” of the product to be promoted, and copy the promotionid filled in step ② to the “promotion_id” field.

If all products participate in this promotion, you can directly select the second option “choose all products”.

If you select the third option, you can select some products to participate in promotional activities according to product type / brand / product group ID, etc.

Although this option can directly select the itemid of the product, the number of products that can be selected in this method is limited, and it is only suitable for the case where the number of promotional products is small.

We select the first option, and then upload the supplementary feed containing the “item\u ID” and “promotion\u ID” fields for the next step.

#7. Set the “promotion Code” for the product. This is a promotional activity code that will be displayed on the front end. After setting, users can use this exclusive activity code to enjoy promotional offers.

#8. Set the active time. Select an activity start date and end date > click Apply > set the promotion time every day during the activity period. Generally, the default is 24 hours a day > click continue to complete the creation of the activity.

#9. At this point, the activity has been created and can take effect only after the system passes the approval.
